The time Alicia and I made an entire wedding dessert buffet

I like to bake. Alicia likes to bake. We like to bake together. After I got home from my climbing trip in Squamish I was thinking I had a wide open month of August with no big plans, then Alicia suggested we bake her brother Stew's wedding cake, or make a dessert buffet for their wedding as a gift...and so started a million test recipes for pie crusts and countless hours on the internet researching wedding dessert buffets and recipes. We did tons of prep work and in the end baked for 2 days strait. The little raspberry pies took the longest. Even with her sister Melissa helping us it took half a day. Aren't they cute though with their little lattices?
This was my kitchen table around noon the day before the wedding. Pies, cake balls, shortbread, and loads of empty tart shells...
Marshmallow Wedding Cookie assembly line... Alicia's sister Melissa helped us both days and made everything so much faster.
Filling the Lemon Tarts...
Dark Chocolate Truffle Tarts...
Jake was one of our worker bees. He was especially helpful stamping out all the fondant tops and taking pictures of himself.
We made molasses cookies and Snickerdoodles especially for Stew. Leicha requested cream puffs and even though Alicia and I had made those before, we bought them. It was our only shortcut but probably a good move. Thanks to Melissa and Jake's help we finished up around 9:30 instead of baking through the night like we'd expected to. We were all so sick of sugar though that we went down the street for some McDonald's fries and cheeseburgers. They were soooooo gooooood!
Wedding Day!!!!
It was perfect!! We didn't forget anything, there was plenty of everything, nothing tipped over, and it was all delicious! Plus we got tons of compliments. I'd definitely consider doing this again. (but not for free again) Anyone want to hire us???
Alicia made super cute unique labels
The buffet was especially popular with the kids...
Thank you to everyone who helped us including lending us pans and platters, eating and giving feedback on our trial desserts, watching kids, assembling the desserts, and for eating them because I didn't want to take tons home. And for Jake taking me climbing the day before the baking began. It was so nice to get out and get my mind off everything before all the craziness started, he even took a few pictures of me climbing. Just a few though, it was crazy windy!

I can't belive you wouldn't let us come over and "help" you by taste testing them all to make sure that they were good!
